Mission Houses – Homelike places for patients and families
Our hospice houses, the Mission Houses, offer professional, 24-hour hospice care and family support in a peaceful, homelike setting.
A special place for hospice care
Our hospice houses are designed for patients at the end of life who need intensive, round-the-clock symptom management that cannot be provided at home. We also offer short-term stays for patients whose caregivers need extra support. Patients typically stay in a hospice house a few weeks to a few months.
The Mission Houses provide excellent care while reducing hospitalizations and offering family support. Located in San Mateo and Redwood City, our hospice houses are quiet, bright, and comfortable.
Welcoming for the whole family
The focus at each Mission House is on family support and patient comfort. Friends and family members are always welcome and encouraged to visit and stay.
The common areas and lovely gardens allow loved ones to spend time together in a warm, private environment while our experienced medical staff and trained volunteers provide compassionate physical, emotional, and spiritual support for the entire family.
Referrals and paying for care
For most patients, the cost of medical care is covered by insurance. Room and board is $400/day, and includes a private room and bath, all meals, personal assistance, housekeeping, and more.
Patients: your primary physician can refer you to to any of our services. You can also call our outreach team at 650.554.1000.
Physicians: if you have a patient who you think might benefit from our hospice houses, please contact our outreach team at 650.554.1000.
By and for our community
The Mission Houses were built and funded with support from our local community (find out more about our Woodside Hospice House campaign here). Donations and grants help support patients who are unable to pay, and allow us to provide a level of medical care above and beyond what insurance will reimburse.
