Mission House – A place for patients and families
Our hospice house, Mission House offers professional, 24-hour hospice care and family support in a peaceful, homelike setting.
A special place for hospice care
Our hospice house is designed for patients at the end of life who need intensive, round-the-clock symptom management that cannot be provided at home. Mission House also offers a safety net for patients whose caregivers need a few days of respite. Patients typically stay in the hospice house a few days to a few weeks.
Mission House provides excellent care while reducing hospitalizations and offering family support. In the heart of San Mateo, the 10-bed house is quiet, bright, and comfortable.
Welcoming for the whole family
Family members are always welcome and encouraged to visit and stay in Mission House. The common areas and lovely gardens allow loved ones to spend time together in a warm, private environment while our experienced medical staff and trained volunteers provide compassionate physical, emotional, and spiritual support for the entire family.
Referrals and paying for care
Mission House is small, with a limited number of rooms. Mission Hospice works with each patient, family, and physician to find the best place for each person to receive our hospice care.
Patients: your primary physician can refer you to to any of our services. You can also call our outreach team at 650.554.1000.
Physicians: if you have a patient who you think might benefit from a short stay in our hospice house, please contact our outreach team at 650.554.1000.
Room and board at Mission House is $400/day, on a sliding scale. The cost of medical care is, for most patients, covered by the Medicare hospice benefit and/or private insurance.
By and for our community
Mission House was built and funded with support from our local community. Donations and grants help support patients who are underinsured, and allow us to provide a level of medical care above and beyond what insurance will reimburse.
