What services does Mission Hospice provide?

Mission Hospice offers a range of services to support people living with serious or life-limiting illness and the families who care for them. That includes hospice and palliative care, transitional support, grief services, and community education. We also operate Mission House, a comfortable, home-like setting where hospice patients can receive short-term inpatient care when their symptoms are difficult to manage at home. Whatever your needs, our team is here to help you understand your options and find the right support.

Both focus on comfort and quality of life. Palliative care provides additional physical, emotional, and spiritual support for people with serious illness who are not ready for hospice. Hospice is for people with a terminal diagnosis, typically six months or less, who choose comfort-focused end-of-life care.

You don’t need a referral to start a conversation. Patients and families can contact Mission Hospice directly to discuss their situation and learn about available care. A primary physician can also refer a patient to Mission Hospice services.

Yes. Mission Hospice works closely with patients, families, caregivers, and physicians to create personalized care plans based on each patient’s individual needs, wishes, cultural background, spiritual beliefs, and personal preferences.

Mission Hospice supports patients and their loved ones with medical, emotional, spiritual, and practical care. Families may receive education, guidance, volunteer assistance, respite support, and grief services before, during, and after a loved one’s end-of-life journey.

Many Mission Hospice services are covered by Medicare, Medi-Cal, private insurance plans, and other healthcare benefits. Coverage varies depending on the service and individual circumstances. Our team can help patients and families understand their benefits and navigate the financial aspects of care.

Mission House is a six-bed hospice house in Redwood City providing professional, 24-hour care in a peaceful, homelike environment. It serves patients who need intensive symptom management that cannot be provided at home and can also provide short-term caregiver respite.

As a nonprofit, Mission Hospice is guided by our mission to serve patients, families, and the community, not by generating profits for shareholders. This allows us to focus our resources and decisions on providing compassionate, high-quality care, supporting families, and helping ensure people receive the care they need when they need it.
