Community outreach

Mission Hospice & Home Care board, staff, volunteers, and donors are local residents who believe that every member of our community should have access to compassionate palliative and hospice care, regardless of race, religious preference, or income level. Our multi-cultural and multilingual staff and volunteers reflect the rich diversity of the county, and our understanding of many cultures and customs.

Through our community involvement and comprehensive Outreach and Education program, we strive to ensure that everyone knows their end-of-life care options. We collaborate with a number of local organizations, including the African American Community Health Advisory Committee, the Peninsula Clergy Network, and the San Mateo County Committee for Minority Elders and the Committee on Aging.

Our community outreach and education programs include:

Clinical staff presentations – Our expert staff members share information about our services with clinical staff at agencies throughout San Mateo County.

Professional forums and continuing education – We offer professional forums, in-service support, and continuing education for clinical staff at hospitals, residential care facilities, and other agencies.

Higher education – Members of our staff teach college courses on death and dying, parent/child relations, and end-of-life issues and care.

Public speakers – Our volunteers and staff are available to speak to civic organizations, church groups, and others about end-of-life care options.
